Instructions for collecting horsehair for braided items.
1. Brush out your horses tail.
2. Lift the shorter hair at the top of the tail to the side to expose the longer hair underneath.
3. Cut 2 small bunches from the one side of the dock as close to the dock as possible. Then cut 2 small bunches from the other side of the dock in different places in the tail so you do not cut a big chunk of hair from one place.
4. The final bundle should be the diameter of your pointer finger, from the top of the bundle all the way to the bottom ends of the hair. For a Standard Sized Bracelet the length needs to be 15-18 inches long. Half Cuff and Open Hook Bracelets need 20+ inches of length. The Waterfall Bracelet needs 25+ inches. For a Necklace the hair needs to be 27-29 inches minimum for a choker type necklace. We can add an extender chain which will add 1-2 inches to length. Hat Bands the tail hair needs to be 25-30+ inches long.
5. Tie a rubber band around the bundle. Please do not use tape. The bundle should be at least as thick as your pointer finger from top to bottom of the hair bundle. Earrings only need to be as thick as a pencil.
6. The hair should be clean, odor-free, and free of tangles or mats. Do not knot or braid the hair. Washing the tail hair is not required but appreciated.
7. To clean the hair: With the hair secured with a rubber band wash the hair with regular people shampoo or blue Dawn and rinse clean. Please DO NOT add conditioner, oil, show sheen, or any other similar product to the hair. Blot the hair dry with towels, gently comb out the hair and hang or lay flat to dry. Make sure hair is completely dry before shipping, or hair could mold in bag and be permanently ruined!!
8. Form a gentle circle with the DRY hair bundle and place in a zip-lock bag. Label the bag with your name, phone number and order number. I will match the contact information on your order with the return address on your package. Place the zip-lock bag in your mailing envelope.

How do I determine my bracelet size? If you do not provide a bracelet size, your bracelet will be made 7.5" long. To avoid delays in processing your order, please provide this information.
Determining your bracelet size
1. Measure your wrist at the largest part going over the large bone on the outside of your wrist.
2. Add 1 - 1-1/2 inches to this measurement depending upon preference. This is your final bracelet length.
3. The model’s wrist measures approximately 6-1/4” and she chose a 7-1/4” bracelet. Personally I measure 6-1/4”, but I like my bracelets to fit more like a bangle, so I prefer 7-1/2”.
4. On the order form indicate the finished bracelet length NOT the wrist size.
5. Average women’s size is 7-1/2” - 8”.
